From this first selection, an expert jury then selected nine nominees for the group exhibition that starts March 29.

The exhibition Harry Pennings Award is on view from 29 March to 27 April 2019.

About the Harry Pennings prijs 2019

In 2006, Petra Cardinaal took over the reigns from Harry Pennings and decided to create a prize attached to his name. The prize was created as a tribute to the founder of one of the first photo galleries in the Netherlands and to help starting photographers distinguish and present themselves. Harry Pennings had an eye for discovering young talent and that made him a unique gallery owner and that is why he never ran his gallery looking to make profit. Passion for photography - and for the makers - was his motivation. Petra Cardinaal embraces this value as well. And this is also the motivation for organizing this price.

The former Harry Pennings Award recipients are as follows: 2007, Renée van Trier; 2009, Wytske van Keulen; 2011, Awoiska van der Molen and in 2015, Maroesjka Lavigne.
