Graphic Design student Kim Akkermans won the Cherry for the Most Urgent Work in Eye Filmmuseum with her work 'A Childhood Dream'. At the annual Research Labs presentations, Eye becomes a bustling hub for students from various academies and universities eager to showcase their own projects and explore the work of their peers.

On Saturday, the 10th, Eye organised a full day of film screenings and showcases in its cinema's. The event also featured a selection process by a group of students selected from all the participating academies and universities - The Cherry Pickers.

Eye Research Labs provide scope for a new generation of curators and artists to hone their skills. Students from different art academies and universities are asked to put together a programme featuring their own work and films from Eye’s collection. Research Labs do not follow a strict format and often result in a cultural crossover between film and other art forms.

They awarded:

Cherry for the Most Surprising Work: Copper Dream (Jingfeng Shen, Piets Zwart Institute)

Cherry for the Most Urgent Work: A Childhood Dream (Kim Akkermans, Royal Academy of Art)

Wild Cherry: A Night Piece For Those Who Feel Or Felt Like They Are Falling (Tessa Langeveld, Piets Zwart Institute)

Cherry for the Best Curated Program: Performing the Screen (University of Amsterdam)
