Alice Twemlow wins the Simon Mari Pruys Prize for design criticism
The Simon Mari Pruys Prize for design criticism together with the Geert Bekaert Prize for architectural criticism have been instigated by Archined and Designplatform Rotterdam to celebrate design criticism and to stimulate the art of design writing. The prizes are awarded irregularly. An open call was issued for the 2019 edition, inviting texts that touch on the theme of ‘world views’.
'Conflicting Definitions of Key Terms': An Ecological Protest at the International Design Conference in Aspen, 1970–1971 by Alice Twemlow is a timely essay convincingly showing that design history can serve as a mirror for contemporary design issues. You can read the essay or listen to it via the Archined channel on Soundcloud.
