Online Open Day: BA Interior Architecture & Furniture Design

"Learning by doing" is the motto for the Bachelor Interior Architecture & Furniture Design (IA & FD). The IA & FD programme at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague (KABK) covers the full breadth of the spatial domain by focusing on spatial conditions that determine how we experience our daily living environment.

In your first year, you will be experimenting with various materials, techniques, and styles. In the second year, you can choose your specialization: Interior Architecture or Furniture Design. In the last year, you will be working towards a personalized graduation assignment.

During your time at the KABK, you will learn to be a versatile, investigative, and independent interior architect or furniture designer. Teachers will offer personal coaching and will help you develop your own method and teach the technical skills you require.

During this programme, you will be dealing with spatial engineering, materiality, tactility, and learn how to turn a sketch into an actual design. Design is teamwork. You will work on professional design cases in teams, both inside and outside of the academy. This way you are able to set up a studio after graduation, work for an established designer, or find your own way in the extensive field of art, (spatial) design, and architecture.
