Other projects of KABK alumni/teachers in DDW

Dryland

Liselot Cobelens (BA Interior Architecture & Furniture Design, 2021) is also part of the programme of DDW. This KABK alum investigated how dehydration arose in the Netherlands. It is hard to imagine that a slow desiccation is taking place. Even the inhabitants are not yet aware of the silent killer drought. Four consequences are translated into an impressive wool carpet.

Location: Strijp-S area, Klokgebouw | Hall 1

Amended

'Amended' is the work of Manon Stoeltie, KABK Kunstplan teacher. 'Amended' is a duo of furniture piecies made of found polystyrene packaging and aluminium. They are a product of the thoughts on intention, creating, value and function of Stoeltie.

Anything But a Hole-Exploring stories of the bellybutton

Anything But a Hole-Exploring stories of the bellybutton is a project of Samriddhi Ghattak (I/M/D, 2022). A little crevice filled with a pool of stories that range from being sexualized, neglected, or fueled with cosmic power. What is the true form of the Bellybutton? “Anything but a hole”, provides the Bellybutton a platform to express its journey and explore the different identities it holds. Lean in and feel the power of your Bellybutton.

G1rl W0rld

G1rl W0rld is the work of Isabelle Nair-Lacheta (I/M/D, 2022). It explores the theme of gender by reclaiming traditional craft and uses its political potential to work against a history of violence and repression against women to be both radically disruptive and radically reparative. Nair-Lacheta examines the role of aesthetics and archetypes by leaning into the caricature of femininity, via hyper-feminine and hyper-sexual aesthetics, to critique and reject the male gaze and reclaim the power of that femininity. The pieces of furniture in the installation function as a portal. The audience will be able to access 3D archetypes through Augmented Reality (AR), into an imaginative world that is unapologetically femme. The work is nominated for the Young Talent Award.

Location: Floor 8 Veemgebouw, Torenallee 100
