KABK at DDW 2019
From 19 to 27 October the biggest design event in Northern Europe takes place in Eindhoven. Dutch Design Week (DDW) organises and facilitates exhibitions, lectures, prize ceremonies, networking events, debates and festivities and presents work and ideas of more than 2600 designers in more than 110 locations across the city.

Manifestations - Superpowers
Location: 9th floor – Veemgebouw, (Strijp-S)
Manifestations presents work by young talents and selected projects by recent graduates of Dutch Art Academies. The newest fashion and wearables, botox, human mutations, Post apocalyptic design and more. With KABK alumni:

Stimuleringsfonds Creatieve Industrie presents the design practice of 28 up-and-coming design talents in 'The Scene is Here'. With KABK alumni:

Homo Sensorium
Location: Natlab (Strijp-S)
A sensorial experience, exploring human perception and technology, hosted by Baltan Laboratories, Natlab, Broet showcasing the graduation project INEVITABLY BLUE by KABK alumna Sophia Bulgakova (Bachelor ArtScience 2019).
INEVITABLY BLUE is a participatory performance on a swing which deals with imaginary matters. The experience within it allows to transcend from the present environment, travel to where color exists when movement cuts the air, and dreams are intertwining with reality in more than one dimension.

WORTH Partnership Project
Location: 2nd floor - Veem (Strijp S)
WORTH Partnership Project presents the winning projects from the first call for transnational collaborations between fashion designers, creative people, manufacturing enterprises (SMEs) and technology firms looking to develop design-driven and innovative products. Among them, the modular acoustic panels which combine digital manufacturing techniques with traditional textile craft by KABK alumnus Industrial Design 2018:

HOW&WOW
Location: 2nd floor - Veem (Strijp S)
Crafts Council Nederland presents the inspiring group exhibition HOW&WOW highlighting the importance of crafts, from wood carving to polyurethane moulding and from young maker to seasoned craftsman. With a large community of maker-designers, craft professionals, museums, workplaces, companies, the government and academies HOW&WOW presents all dimensions of making. With KABK alumni:

Every year, Dutch Design Awards (DDA) honours the best Dutch designers and their most impressive and groundbreaking projects. Various disciplines, viewpoints and solutions are judged in light of the impact they have on our society. Among the nominees;

SUSLIB aims to create a collaborative and interactive ecosystem –consisting of digital and physical components–which encourages sharing of (re)sources and increases the output of works of knowledge such as books. SUSLIB is a self-initiated collaborative project between KABK Graphic Design 2016 graduates Martijn de Heer & Amir Houieh.
MA Industrial Design x TextileLab Amsterdam

Second year students of the Master Industrial Design present work resulted from last year's collaborative project with TextileLab Amsterdam | Waag.

New Order of Fashion / Modebelofte
The End is Near

New Order of Fashion (formerly known as Modebelofte) presents an immersive exhibition with a selection of fiercely innovative fashion talents, who freshly graduated from national and international BA and MA courses and addressing urgent universal topics as diverse as the sweeping effects of climate change and cries for environmental and social justice and an even playing field for cultural and gender diversity.Under the title The End is Near the exhibition features work by amongst others our KABK Textile & Fashion alumnus Vincent Wong.
Also on view, results of the project UNSEAM (by Karin Vlug and Industrial Design alumnus Bas Froon) showcasing how new technologies can enable local, digital and on-demand manufacturing of garments.
