KABK alumni at the DDW 2017

Students and alumni of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK) are present with collective and independent projects during the Dutch Design Week, 21-29 October in Eindhoven.

Selected presentations by KABK alumni during the DDW 2017:

  • Dutch Design Awards finalists - in both the category Fashion and the Young Designer AwardDas Leven am Haverkamp, design collective of Textile and Fashion alumni Anouk van Klaveren, Christa van der Meer, Dewi Bekker and Gino Anthonisse (Veem).
  • Collective presentation In No Particular Order by the Creative Industries Fund NL: participants of the Talent Development programme, among whom, ArtScience alumna Mariska De Groot and collective Marsdiep (Graphic Design alumni Mike Kokken, Max Peeperkorn, Pascal Schilp en Ruben Verkuylen), have worked out a collective statement about the contemporary design practice, presented in nine installations at the Van Abbe museum.
  • Bas Froon, alumnus of (former) Postgraduate Course Industrial Design presents his graduation project in 'The future is local: micromoulding machine & soft biocomposites' (Klokgebouw).
  • Industrial Design alumna Lilian van Daal presents the project 'Biomimicry; 3D printed soft seat' and the 'bio inspired bicycle saddle' in the exhibition '5 years Driving Dutch Design & Hotspots'  curated by Van Eijk & Van der Lubbe. The 5 year Hotspots retrospective features more projects by our Industrial Design alumni, such as, Lindey Cafsia, Sylwia Allen, Daniela Buonvino and works by Photography alumna Lynne Brouwer and Textile & Fashion alumna Christa van der Meer (Veem).
  • Industrial Design alumnus Lindey Cafsia is among the 21 selected designers who will present their work in the Dating Dutch Design exhibition organised by Driving Dutch Design (Klokgebouw).
  • Interior Architecture and Furniture Design alumni Noortje de BrouwerZsofia KollarJasmijn MuskensTommy de MoorBianca MeilofLieke VernooyNienke Sikkema and Jelle Koper present their collective project Disposition (Pullman Cocagne Hotel).
  • Textile designer Nikkie Wester presents the project ‘Beauty Comes with Age’ in collaboration with the Textielmuseum (Piet Hein Eek location).
  • Fashion collective Das Leben am Haverkamp (Anouk van KlaverenDewi BekkerChrista van der Meer and Gino Anthonisse) present HANDWERK, a project in collaboration with the Zeeuws Museum (Klokgebouw).
  • Graphic Design alumni Katerina GaidamakaManus Nijhoff and Jorick de Quaasteniet present their projects at the Manifestations - Will the Future Design Us? ART & TECH event (Veemgebouw, 8th floor).
  • Work by Interior Architecture & Furniture Design alumna Jasmijn Muskens is featured in the exhibition 'Hutspot Play' (Hutspot Eindhoven).

KABK students and teachers during DDW:

  • Students of the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design department have been commissioned to design the interior of the pop-up Frame Store in the Klokgebouw. 
  • Textile and Fashion coordinator Sanne Jansen launches her new collection during the exhibition 'Hutspot Play' (The launching event takes place on 25 October, in Hutspot Eindhoven).
  • Portfolio reviews during the Dutch Design Week: with Erlynne Bakkers, tutor, Master Industrial Design, Hans Venhuizen, Head of the Master Interior Architecture (INSIDE) and Laura van Santen, tutor, Bachelor Interior Architecture & Furniture Design.
