Vibeke Mascini

Studio practice

Vibeke Mascini teaches sculpture at the Fine Arts department of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK).

Vibeke Mascini explores, through sculptures, installations, video and text, a scaling of abstract phenomena into a sensorial scope, with the intention to seek agency from intimacy. In long-term collaboration with scientists, engineers, government employees and musicians she proposes a conscious understanding of electric energy as a statement of interconnectedness and entanglement—between species, media and nature, matter and energy.

Vibeke studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and received her BFA at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. She carried out artist-in-residencies at Delfina Foundation London, Rijksmuseum Boerhaave in Leiden, Fondazione Ratti in Como, Alps Art Academy in Tenna, Studio Galeria FKSE in Budapest, amongst others. Currently Vibeke is a resident at the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam.

Her publications include: The Dent of Walter Umenhofer (2015), Cloud Inverse (2017) and Silent Whale Letters (forthcoming). She teaches sculpture at the Fine Arts department of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) and is a member of the 'Design & The Deep Future Research Group', chaired by Alice Twemlow.
