Shimmer: Eloise Sweetman and Jason Hendrik Hansma
Curatorial support, end exam project
Eloise Sweetman and Jason Hendrik Hansma are Shimmer: a momentary flash of light and an ever-changing space (in Rotterdam) where practitioners, thinkers, audience, and entities are brought together in the spirit of care and companionship.
Shimmer has an ever-changing studio-like mentality where knowledge arises through participation and experimentation. The artist run space is influenced by anthropologist and feminist theorist Deborah Bird Rose’s call to ‘Shimmer, when all you love is being trashed.’

Eloise Sweetman
Eloise Sweetman is a Western Australian curator, writer, teacher, and artist. Her work explores intersectional co-responsibility within and through communities, artists and spaces. The manifestation of such communities is, for Eloise’s work, the assembly of people, things, and ideas within the exhibition, the talk, the walk, the dinner, the excursion (among others), and in life.
Recent projects and collaborations are with A Tale of A Tub, Rotterdam; Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; Turning A Blind Eye, São Paulo Biennial; De Appel, Amsterdam; and Political Arts Initiative. She is theory lecturer at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, Amsterdam and was a researcher at the Van Eyck Academie, Maastricht. She has an MFA from the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam and a MA in Arts Management, University of the Arts Utrecht and Open Universities London.
She is currently researching German minimalist artist Charlotte Posenenske for the Kröller-Müller Museum, The Netherlands.

Jason Hendrik Hansma
Jason Hendrik Hansma is an artist working in film, installation, and photography. His works explore history, memory, and liminality as a form disorientation from the standardization of the body in contemporary culture. A glass vein, or a transitory border marked by a chiffon curtain make up a vocabulary of constant unfixing.
Exhibitions, performances, readings and screenings have been included in Videotage and Artbasel Hong Kong, Maison van Doesburg, Kadist Foundation, Ludwig Forum für Internationale Kunst, Rupert, Contemporary Art Centre Vilnius, Centre Georges Pompidou, Parc Saint-Léger Centre d'art Contemporain, Hordaland Kunstsenter, Centre International d'art et du paysage de l’île de Vassivière, Center for Contemporary Art Futura, Jan van Eyck and De Appel among others.
Jason has an MFA from Piet Zwart Institute, Rotterdam, and was a participant at the Jan van Eyck, Maastricht.
