Paul van der Laan

Paul van der Laan (1972, Wormerveer) works as a designer of type and typography. Together with Pieter van Rosmalen he founded Bold Monday in 2008, an independent Dutch type foundry based in The Hague. Since 2003, he has been a teacher in type design at the TypeMedia master programme at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague. Together with Erik van Blokland and Peter Verheul, Paul van der Laan is a Core Teacher at TypeMedia.

Paul graduated at the Royal Academy of Art (KABK) at the Graphic Design department in 2000. He has given workshops and lectures at numerous schools across Europe and at various international conferences. Paul worked on custom type project for clients worldwide, such as NBC Universal, Audi AG, Autodesk Inc, Banco Deuno and VPRO.
