Laure Prouvost

Artist

Laure Prouvost is a French multi-media artist based in Antwerp. She is the recipient of the 2011 Max Mara Art Prize, the 2013 Turner Prize, and in 2019 represents France at the Venice Biennale.

Known for her immersive and mixed-media installations that combine film and installation in idiosyncratic and sensuous ways, Laure’s work often addresses miscommunication as it coils around language in its broadest sense, confounding linear narratives and expected associations of words, images and meanings. Her work merges existing and imagined memories with a range of cultural references in the creation of complex film installations that twist fiction and reality.
