Jonatan Habib Engqvist

Curatorial workshop leader

Jonatan Habib Engqvist is an independent curator and writer based in Stockholm, Sweden.

He was recently co-curator of the process-based biennale Sinopale 6 in Turkey, Survival Kit 9 in Riga, Latvia and is currently organising New Småland – a series of collaborative events with four Swedish art institutions. He also runs the curatorial residency CRIS in Stockholm.

Jonatan was co-curator of the Momentum biennale (2015), and No Bad Days at Kalmar Konstmuseum (2015). Prior to that, he was project manager, visual art at Iaspis (2009-2014), curator of Reykjavík Arts Festival (2012), and a curator at Moderna Museet (2008-09).

Recently curated shows include a public sculpture commission in Jönköping, Sweden; solo exhibitions with Bouchra Khalili at Färgfarbriken, Stockholm, Raluca Popa, RCI, Stockholm, and A. Kassen at the National Gallery of Iceland.

Jonatan studied philosophy at Södertörn University and has written for and edited several books and journals, is editor in mischief at tsnoK.se and teaches at The Royal Institute of Fine Art in Stockholm.
