Want to become an even better designer or more skilled artist? Sign up for the alumni courses 2013!

The spring courses will start on Saturday March 16, 2013. Courses offered are:

WEB DESIGN 1

WEB DESIGN 2

MOVING IMAGE

3D FOR THE REAL WORLD

Learn how to build your own website in WEB DESIGN 1. Are you ready to take your website to the next level? Then WEB DESIGN 2 might be the course for you.

Always wanted to learn more about working with moving images? The course MOVING IMAGE will teach you the skills needed to create a (short) film.

New this year is the course 3D FOR THE REAL WORLD. During a seven week crash course you’ll be taught the inner workings of Maxon’s Cinema 4D and develop your own 3D project.

Courses take place on Saturdays during seven weeks and will take 3 hours per lesson.

Two times a year we offer various alumni courses. We would like to hear your suggestions on how to improve the curriculum . Please, send your ideas for future courses to: alumni@kabk.nl

Alumni exhibit in KOP
It ain't over yet

Alumni Raoul de Lange (Photography 2011), Puck Verkade (Fine Art 2011), Thomas van Linge (Fine Art 2011) and Patrick Bergsma (Fine Ars 1996) can be seen in the exhibition "It is not over yet"in KOP. On 21 December 2012 the world will end. That is, if we are to believe all the predictions made about it. According to the Mayans, the Bible, Nostradamus, the Indians, the Zulus and even scientists is the end of time in sight. For many artists, this is a great source of inspiration. "It's not over yet" shows the different views of the artists on these predictions.

Alumna Marie-Jose Jongerius exhibits in the Nederlands Fotomuseum

The Nederlands Fotomuseum presents the exhibition entitled Marie-José Jongerius: Lunar Landscapes - Maasvlakte 2. In this work, the Dutch photographer has recorded the development of Maasvlakte 2, the extension project of the harbour of Rotterdam, in an intriguing way. During the past year, she aimed her large-format camera at the new landscape in the night-time. This produced large-format photographic images with an enigmatic beauty.

Steenbergen Stipend - photography talents 2012, is a diverse exhibition of the five nominees for the Steenbergen Stipend 2012, the high potentials of Dutch photography students.

Seven alumni show their work at the exhibition of the Royal Awards for Modern Painting 2012. The work of Bob Eikelboom (Fine Art 2012), Daan den Houter (Fine Art 2003), Femmy Otten (Fine Art 2004), Jan Wattjes (Fine Art 2008), Rens Krikhaar (Fine Art 2009) Bonnie Severien (Fine Art 2007) and Evi Vingerling (Fine Arts 2002), who is also one of the winners of the prize, will all be shown till november the 5th.

Alumna Evi Vingerling one of the winners of the Royal Awards for Modern Painting 2012

Alumna Evi Vingerling received her Bachelor of Fine Art in 2002. She is one of the four winners of the Royal Awards for Modern painting. Four artists receive a cash prize of 6,500 euros free of taxes and contributions. They are nominated by a jury.

Alumni Teun Vonk en Gönül Albayrak exhibit at Heden

Teun Vonk and Gönül Albayrak have recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Albayrak (Fine Art) graduated in 2011 and Vonk (Photography) in 2012. This exhibition is one of opposites. Teun Vonk shows the strength of the group in relation to that of the individual. Gönül Albayrak shows the vulnerability of the human (or more specifically: the woman). Her paintings are full of tension, any time something may happen and it seems that this is not a pleasant event. The women seem vulnerable.

Lonneke van der Palen and Guus Kaandorp were nominated for the Photo Academy Award 2012. They were nominated as a duo for their work 'Dinner'. Lonneke was additionally nominated for her own work 'Souvenir' .

Alumna Puck Verkade exhibits in Heden Hier

On Friday the 1st of June Fine Arts alumna Puck Verkade will present the results of her three month residency at Heden Hier. The exhibition will show the collection of 99 selfportraits made by others, a great result of totally different interpretations. And a new video installation based upon Puck’s participation in De Nieuwe Rembrandt, a new Dutch talent show for artists, where she has infiltrated and documented everything from the inside out to get a grip on the illusion of the reality show and tv.

On Thursday, May 24 at 12:00. Marcel van Eeden gives a lecture about his work in the auditorium of the Academy. Marcel van Eeden, a former student of the academy (1993), is a renowned internationally recognized artist who lives and works in Zurich. On May 24 and 25 Marcel provides a master class for students from the Fine Arts department. At this time in the Berlin branch of Galerie Zink shows a wonderful exhibition of Marcels latest works. New developments are transformed into surprisingly colorful concepts.

Alumnus Johan Nieuwenhuize presents his first book

Photography Johan Nieuwenhuize presented his first book ‘Made in China’. Nieuwenhuize graduated in 2006 as a photographer. The photography project Made in China is the result of the time Nieuwenhuize spent as an artist in residence at the Three Shadows Photography Art Center in Beijing. He was situated in the area of Caochangdi, where he often worked in the homes of migrant workers from the rural areas of China.

Marcel van Eeden, alumnus Fine Arts (2008) exhibits until mid February in the German city Darmstadt. Schritte ins Reich der Kunst is his biggest solo exhibition ever: 13 series with a total of 660 drawings. In addition, the show features murals, sculptural objects and spacious video game environment.
