HET NIEUWE WERKLANDSCHAP
Symposium 22 June 2012

Interior Architecture Event

[Dutch spoken] 22 June 2012, 12:30 - 17:30. Location: De Pastoe Fabriek – Rotsoord 3 in Utrecht. Entrance: € 45,- (students € 15,-). This includes lunch, soup and drinks

The vacancy rate of premises and offices on city outskirts increases from year to year. Meanwhile, the existing city is buzzing with new small businesses in old places. While many associate this with self-employed professionals in the service sector, the diversity is much greater. Also in the manufacturing industry, new ways of small-scale production are developed, aided by the miniaturization of (tech) tools. In both sectors, this smale scale offers the opportunity to alter the relationship between designer, maker and user - which is now mostly determined by programs of requirements, supply chains, catalogs and help desks – while breaking with the traditional separations in time and space.

Under the title "The New Working Landscape" Utrecht Manifest, in the fourth biennial for social design, reflects on questions such as:
• How can small production units where command, design, craft and marketingorganically into one another not only contribute to the economic, but also to the socialmovement?
• What is the "design ecology" of the new worklandscape? Which (spatial) conditions support the habitat in which knowledge sharing anddevelopment in production take shape?
• What is the contribution to the resilience of theurban fabric of the place, the district, the city andthe region of this new economic order?

Admission € 45, - (students € 15, -). This includes lunch, soup and drinks.
Tickets are available online and on the day at the ticket desk.
