|May 24: Lectures Job Floris & Sander Lap
Two views on approach and design (in architecture and landscape)
During this meeting - part of the 1st year IA course architectural theory (tutor Ernie Mellegers) - Job Floris and Sander Lap give an impression of the current (design)practice within the respective disciplines of architecture and landscape design. The two joined lectures are open to the public.
Thursday May 24 09h00-11h00 (location: BB203 (theory classroom)
Architect Job Floris (1974) studied architectural design at the Academy of Fine Arts St. Joost in Breda and architecture at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture. He worked with Atelier van Lieshout, Christian KieckensArchitects and architectural firm Rapp + Rapp before in 2006 - together with others - he founded the architectural firm Monadnock. His work and that of the agency, is characterized by a desire for continuity or connection to an unusual context and by its modest architectural expression that rather serves the whole than outshining it. Urban development architect Sander Lap (1979) studied at the Rotterdam Academy of Architecture and worked for some time at West 8 Urban Design & Landscape architecture before he founded LAP Landscape & Urban Design, his own research and design studio. He is an Archiprix International winner (2009-2010 edition) and, in addition to his design practice, regularly gives lectures and workshops at various institutions, including the Berlage Institute, Delft University of Technology, Helsinki University and at the Strelka in Institute Moscow. His work is characterized by an undogmatic, imaginative and pragmatic approach that often leads to surprising solutions and concepts - both in urban and landscape projects. A Down to earth mentality, without getting in the way of imagination and creativity. See: http://laplab.eu
