DOEN | Materiaalprijs 2012
Kick-off of the 4th edition

Interior Architecture Contest

The DOEN | Materiaalprijs introduces the designs of the future. Visual artists, designers, fashion designers and architects are challenged to use new sustainable materials and innovative techniques. The new designs will help to shape a better and more sustainable society. The DOEN | Materiaalprijs awards two prizes. The first prize of € 15,000 for a finalized product and an incentive prize of € 5,000 for an idea that has not yet been put into production.

New materials are made available all the time. How can we apply them in such a way that useful and sustainable designs emerge? The DOEN | Materiaalprijs was created to promote the sustainable design practice in which the core values of innovation and sustainability go hand in hand with style and functionality. This annual prize intends to mobilise everyone at the cutting edge of art and design to devise new ways and means of designing for a sustainable future.

Can I join?
Submissions are welcome from all designers, visual artists, fashion designers and architects living and working in the Netherlands. The closing date for entries is 8 June 2012. Submission forms can be downloaded from this website.

Exhibition and prize ceremony
An expert committee will select and nominate fifteen to eighteen designs from the submitted works. The selection of nominated works will be exhibited during Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven, which takes place from 20 to 28 October 2012. Prior to the exhibition an expert jury will choose the two winning entries from the nominated works. The winners will be announced during the prize ceremony.
The prize ceremony will be held at the Van Abbemuseum in EIndhoven on the opening day of Dutch Design Week on October 22nd.

The DOEN | Materiaalprijs is an initiative of the Materiaalfonds voor Beeldende Kunst en Vormgeving and Stichting DOEN.
