Gerrit Noordzij Award 2012 winner is Karel Martens

KABK Event

Typographic designer Karel Martens received the Gerrit Noordzij award this year. Wim Crouwel, who won the Gerrit Noordzij award in 2009, handed the award to Martens at Friday 9th of March in Auditorium of the Royal Academy of Art (KABK). An exhibition of Wim Crouwel's work was opened right after the award ceremony in the gallery of the KABK. The exhibition is shown until the 12th of April.

Karel Martens is granted the award, named after letter designer Gerrit Noordzij, because of his work in the field of typography, teaching and publishing.

An exhibition of the work by Gerrit Noordzij winner 2009, graphic designer Wim Crouwel was opened in the gallery of the KABK at the 9th of March. The exhibition is designed by students Type & Media of the KABK. The exhibition of Wim Crouwel's work is shown until the 12th of April 2012. Opening hours are Monday-Thursday from 10.00 to 21.00 hr (except Monday 9th of April), Friday from 10-18.00 hr (except Friday 6th of April) and Saturday from 10.00-16.00 hr (except Saturday 7th of April). There will be a publication about the Crouwel exhibition.

Gerrit Noordzij award
The Gerrit Noordzij award is initiated by the master course Type and Media of the KABK, organised in cooperation with Museum Meermanno I Huis van het boek in The Hague and under the auspices of the dr. P.A. Tiele-stichting. The award is granted once every three year by an expert jury.

The Gerrit Noordzij award 2012 is sponsored by: the J.E. Jurriaanse Foundation, the Dr. Hendrik Muller’s Vaderlandsch Fonds, Ontwerpwerk and the City of The Hague.
