The Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) is a comprehensive programme of European Union (EU) financial support to institutes of education, their students and staff, to stimulate student mobility and education co-operation throughout the Union and EFTA (European Free-Trade Association) countries.

The area within LLP that deals with higher education is called Erasmus. With the support of this programme, participating institutions for higher education can make bilateral agreements on joint international activities.

The Royal Academy of Art has bilateral agreements in the framework of Erasmus LLP with many institutions in Europe. Have a look at our list of partners.

Application procedure
Students interested in spending a study period at our institute are required to apply through a special application procedure. As part of this procedure, students will need permission from their home institute. In addition, a special application form has to be completed. International students who want to apply for an Erasmus exchange at the Royal Academy of Art should take the following into consideration:

the deadline for applications is 1 May for the Winter term which starts in September and ends in December and 1 October for the Spring term which starts in January/February and ends in June; Acceptance of Erasmus LLP applications is portfolio based because only a limited number of places is available at each department.EXCEPTION: Student exchange applications for the Graphic Design Department can only be submitted once per year. Deadline of application is 1 May. The department selects a number of students for placement in the Winter term or Spring term.

Besides cooperation with European art education institutions the Royal Academy of Art has a close cooperation in the field of student exchange with a number of overseas art education institutions.
