Choosing for the Royal Academy of Arts (KABK) means choosing for a future in the world of art and culture. The KABK is a fascinating and inspiring community of upcoming artists and designers. The education is aimed at the development of creativity, professionalism and innovation desire. Our teachers come from the professional field. During your education at our Academy you will have every opportunity to develop in such a way that suits your talents and ambitions best. You will encounter all important matters that will be important to you as a beginning artist or designer.
The KABK offers an excellently equipped study environment. There are professional classrooms for wood, metal, textile and electronics. There are multimedia recording and editing studios. There are labs for interfacing (LabLand), for radio frequency identification technology and for augmented reality (AR+RFID Lab). All students are offered the possibility of taking introductory courses for basic knowledge of and skills in moving image, sound, 3D modelling and website design. The Royal Gallery of the Academy regularly exhibits the research process of artists and designers. In the auditorium classes are held on the history of art theory and guest lecturers find a stage to discuss the latest progress of the professional field.
But not everything the KABK has to offer takes place in our building at the Prinsessegracht. By collaborating with the Royal Conservatory at the Interfaculty of Image and Sound/ArtScience and the Faculty of Creative and Performing Arts at Leiden University it is possible, in the light of the optional courses, to take up courses in both minor and master programs.
